What started as a plan to hire and staff up an engineering center in India turned into a business wide strategic workforce planning initiative. Our team worked closely with business leadership in general management, engineering, strategy, finance and HR to develop an agile and sustainable annual process to plan for our engineering organization. This story walks through key elements of the process including gaining alignment, leading change management, training those involved and creating technical resources to facilitate the strategic workforce planning.

About Dave Sachs
Dave is a Workforce Analytics Senior Manager at Johnson Controls. As a member of the Workforce Analytics, Planning and HR Technology COE, he helps drive business performance and enterprise initiatives using predictive analytics and workforce planning. He has 10 years of experience with Mercer consulting in the areas of workforce analytics, workforce planning, and actuarial consulting. In his role as Senior Associate in Mercer’s Workforce Analytics and Planning CoE, Dave used data and analytics to help many large, global companies improve bottom line results through a focus on human capital strategy and measurement, workforce planning, attraction and retention, talent management, pay equity and diversity.
